Democratic Presidential Candidate Martin O’Malley Covered ‘Bad Blood’ On ‘The View’

When you’re a presidential candidate on the campaign trail, you find yourself in a lot of strange places doing a lot of strange things. Enter, Democratic candidate Martin O’Malley, whose daytime television circuit tour landed him on the never-controversial, always intellectual think tank known as The View. While talking about a wide range of topics, including how he could beat frontrunner Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden’s possible entrance into the race, and, of course, Donald Trump, somewhere along the line, things skewed away from politics and ventured into Taylor Swift territory.

When it was uncovered that O’Malley once was in a Irish folk rock band in high school and college, and could play the guitar, the ladies of The View asked him if he could play something for the audience. While not so subtly shading Katy Perry on T. Swift’s behalf (she’s endorsed Hillary Clinton), he pulled out a guitar and sang “Bad Blood” in a baritone just in the way your father would while trying to “impress” your friends while you were in high school.

Still, this television appearance is one he would say went better than his last one as the composite character on The Wire of Mayor Carcetti. He hated that portrayal and the show so much that he allegedly tried to halt filming and arrest anyone affiliated with the show’s production if an infraction was committed. So yes, by default, this was a better look, even if it’s full-on dad rock.
