Of Course, A Musical About Wu-Tang Clan, Martin Shkreli And Bill Murray Is In The Works

Because no true moment of joyous, wonderful, cultural weirdness can be allowed to pass before we milk it for every last dollar, there’s now a musical in the works about that supposed Bill Murray-led heist to take the Wu-Tang Clan’s Once Upon a Time in Shaolin back from evil pharma bro Martin Shkreli.

The musical dubbed Martin Shkreli’s Game: How Bill Murray Joined the Wu-Tang Clan — which has already landed a spot at New York’s Midtown International Theatre Festival — centers around a clause in Martin Shkreli’s contract to purchase the one-of-a-kind album which stipulated the album could be stolen back by members of the Clan and/or Bill Murray. The clause turned out to be a complete hoax, but that didn’t stop the internet from having a bit of a field day with the idea. Case in point: this animated take on the heist from ProbCauseTV.

The musical was written by Lauren Gundrum and Joel Esher and will star actors playing Murray and Shkreli. They are also casting for smaller parts of RZA, GZA and Ol’ Dirty Bastard. No telling if they are going to have Dirt appear Jacob Marley-style or simply write off the fact that he died over a decade ago. The duo are seeking out funding for the performance via IndieGogo.
