Ever wondered who that cherry Chapstick belonged to in Katy Perry’s 2008 breakout hit “I Kissed A Girl?” Apparently it was Miley Cyrus’ lip stuff. In an interview with iHeartRadio affiliate 103.5 KTU, Cyrus says that Perry joked that the One Of The Boys track was about her back in the day.
When talking about her longlasting friendship with Perry, Cyrus reminisced about how they became friends. It all started when Miley was listening to an interview with the up-and-coming singer… on a four-wheeler, no less.
“When she came out with ‘I Kissed A Girl,’ I was doing the Hannah Montana movie,” Cyrus said. “And I heard her on the radio, they said, ‘Who’d you write that about?’ And she said me. And I was on a four-wheeler. My dad had this four-wheeler — this is how hillbilly we are — we had a radio attached to the four-wheeler. I heard it and started screaming and freaking out.”
Despite never meeting before, Cyrus apparently thought it was hilarious that Perry said they kissed, and they decided to take the joke one step further.

“She asked me to go to the VMAs with her,” Cyrus recalled. “‘I’ll go with Katy Perry!’ She took me, but my mom didn’t want me to go by myself, so, you know, stranger danger, so my mom went with me in the limo with Katy Perry, and my mom didn’t really get the joke. She just thought it was cool that I got to go with Katy Perry.”
Sure enough, here’s footage of Cyrus and Perry, green as hell, getting interviewed together on the 2008 Video Music Awards red carpet.

Although maybe Perry and Cyrus never kissed pre-“I Kissed A Girl,” they certainly kissed afterward. When Perry attended Miley’s Bangerz Tour in 2014, she got a smooch with an unexpected amount of tongue.

But nevertheless, Miley and Katy are still as good as ever.
“She’s just been a friend of mine for a long time,” Cyrus told the radio station. “We were actually just realizing that next year, we will have been friends for 10 years. I think that’s my friend that I’ve known the longest.”
Cyrus dished up some other juicy nuggets during her radio interview, including the song that she never wants to sing again.
“I’ll do it,” Cyrus said. “But I don’t love it. It’s when you’re so stoked about something and then you have to sing a song that bums you out. And I’ll never live down when I licked a sledge hammer.”
