Mozzy Heads Back Home To Sacramento In His New Video For ‘Messy Murder Scenes’

Legal troubles for Sacramento MC Mozzy caused him to relocate to Los Angeles temporarily when he was released from jail earlier this year, but he still made his way back home for his new video “Messy Murder Scene.” Those familiar with the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento, CA will be delighted to see plenty of the local scenery in the visual. Mozzy shoots a performance shot at 4th Avenue park and there’s plenty of b-roll footage of the neighborhood like the corner store on 2nd and San Jose, Boss Market on Martin Luther King, as well as scrolling footage of the infamous 4th Avenue and 2nd Avenue blocks.

Mozzy is his usual self, grimy and gritty with rough and vivid rhymes over pristine June Onna Beat production. He’s added a little bit more gold to the equation, but as long as he’s still kicking out lines like “Learned to bust down and bag spittas before i learned to read, went to class smelling like gas and I ain’t learn a thing,” he’s still the same Mozzy as before and that’s perfect.

While speculation continues to run rampant about Mozzy’s major label status — current street rumors have the 29-year-old signed to Epic, he continues to churn out music on his own imprint Mozzy Records. The “Messy Murder Scene” video also doubles the announcement of his sixth project of 2016 1 Up Top Ahk releasing October 14th.

If the new video is a sign of what’s to come from 1 Up Top Ahk, we’re in for a treat.
