As we continue to mourn the passing of iconic artist Prince, more and more stories continue to pop up of celebrities recounting certain moments they had with the one and only Purple One. The latest one? Pink.
In an interview with Nova FM’s Fitzy and Wippa, the “Get the Party Started” singer told a story about her first (and only) encounter with Prince when she was 19, and it didn’t exactly end well. “I actually had an argument with Prince once,” Pink begins. “It was about owning your own masters. I asked him to collaborate with me and he asked me if I had my own masters. I told him no I didn’t because I just actually got a record deal, so it was a little early for me to be demanding my masters back.”
Here’s where things unfortunately take a turn for the worst. “He told me to call him when I did. And I told him that he was a rude f*ck, and then I went onstage.” In retrospect, Pink understands that Prince was probably just looking out for her, but she didn’t see it that way at the time. “I was 19 at the time,” Pink explains. “I didn’t see people coming from good places.” Thankfully, there’s no hard feelings there anymore, with Pink saying that she loves him and will miss him terribly: “The world lost a lot of sparkle this year and it’s hurting my heart because I don’t know what’s going to replace it.”
