Local News Meteorologists Pay Tribute To Prince

Local news meteorologists take any opportunity they can to spice up their daily forecasts. And who can blame them? When it goes well, themed forecasts can bring them before more eyeballs than they’ll ever reach with a regular old prediction of the weather. When you combine that propensity for puns with the death of an icon as large as Prince, you’re bound to get more than a few instances of dudes in suits dropping Purple Rain references.

The YouTube channel News Be Funny compiled some of the best news forecasts from last week. Highlights include so many maps with the typically green rain systems turned purple, Charleston’s anchor team singing Prince’s most iconic song, and the only time “Soft and Wet” will play on network television before 10 p.m. A special shout-out to the Colorado weatherperson who managed to shove a huge amount of Prince puns into what looked like a miserable forecast.

Of course, Prince has inspired tributes from every corner of the entertainment world, television personalities, musicians, and even drummers in the back of pickup trucks couldn’t resist the opportunity to salute His Royal Badness. Everyone from Frank Ocean to Barack Obama took a moment to pay tribute to one of our last true stars.
