If you’re a fan of Sleigh Bells, you might be getting a bit antsy. That’s understandable; it’s been three years since the band’s last album, Bitter Rivals. And while the duo of Alexis Krauss and Derek Miller did give us the single “Champions Of Unrestricted Beauty” this past holiday season, that could only tide fans over for so long. Luckily, fans of the Bells are in for a huge treat, because the duo just released their new single “Rule Number One,” and it’s one of the most stunning, frantic things they’ve ever done.
The song features a musical assault, not unlike the band’s immortal “Infinity Guitars,” along with memorable chanting and rhythm changes throughout. The entire thing feels like a soundtrack to a desperate and chaotic situation, and it’s incredibly invigorating. Plans for a new album have yet to be announced, but the thrill of “Rule Number One” should be enough to keep fans satisfied, at least for a little while. At any rate, it’s hard not to be optimistic about the band’s future after hearing this song. Sleigh Bells are continuing to explore new directions while not abandoning what made them so fascinating in the first place. Their future is undeniably bright.
