Sleigh Bells Embrace The Shadows On Their New Track ‘Hyper Dark’

For those anticipating the upcoming new full-length LP from Brooklyn-based duo and noise pop champions Sleigh Bells, the group just released a new track called “Hyper Dark.” It’s the third song they’ve teased us with in the past seven months — they also released “Champions of Unrestricted Beauty” in December and then again in June with “Rule Number One.” Each song has been incredibly different than the one before it, so it’s obvious they’ve been experimenting as they wrap up recording new material for their upcoming fourth studio album, the follow-up to 2013’s beloved Bitter Rivals.

The new song features a gritty, discordant intro that’s a bit difficult to take in, as the phrase “Uh Oh” might start to creep you out a little. But it only lasts a few seconds and quickly picks up traction, delivering us to that fine musical line between moodiness and darkness. When it starts to get too dark, it’s offset by the group’s signature sparkling synths and singer Alexis Krauss’ sweet, melodic vocals. There’s no official music video for it yet, but Brian Montuori created the visuals for the single art, which you can see above.

They’ve also announced a fall tour, with dates posted to the group’s Instagram.
