Slipknot’s Bassist Was Injured Onstage During A Concert And Sent To The Hospital

Heavy-metal band Slipknot had a scary moment while performing over the weekend. While playing live in Hartford, Connecticut, at the Xfinity Theater, the entire band left the stage only five songs into their set. After 20 minutes of waiting, frontman Corey Taylor came back out and tried to explain what had occurred. And the news was not good for their bass player, Alessandro “V-man” Venturella.

Taylor tries to explain what happened in the video above at about 2:45:

“I’m gonna let you know what’s going on right now. I’m sorry to say that our bass player, Alex, had… Something happened. I’m not sure what happened. He’s been put into an ambulance, and he’s going to the hospital right now as we speak. But I want you all to make f*cking noise for him. Send him some f*cking love. Now, we had a choice to come back out here. We’ve had to modify some sh*t, but we’re gonna keep on playing for you. It’s what we want. It’s what Alex would f*cking want.”

After Taylor’s speech, the band played an adjusted set and did what they could to still put on a show their fans would enjoy, starting right off with “Wait and Bleed.”

Venturella is fairly new to the band, as their original bassist, Paul Gray, died from an overdose in 2010. Original band member Donnie Steele filled in as a touring player in the interim, but “V-man” joined the group as the official new bassist in 2014.

Slipknot has been through worse before. Seeing as how their guitarist has been stabbed in the head and it didn’t affect any tour dates, the band will probably keep on ticking. Hopefully V-man will have a quick recovery.
