Steve Aoki’s ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ Remix Makes A Gigantic Song Even Bigger

EDM producer Steve Aoki heard My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome To The Black Parade” — a song that is the closest mall-emo’s ever come to a full-throated Queen epic — and thought “I need to make this bigger.” We never would have thought to make the already massive tune even huger, but that’s why we aren’t making the main-stage EDM festival bucks. Check it out up top.

The cake-throwing, stage-diving producer brought the wub wub to the Black Parade’s procession as part of the ongoing celebration of The Black Parade‘s 10th anniversary. Aoki told Buzzfeed that he spent months working on the track to avoid removing any of the song’s key moments:

“I know it sounds like I’m over-dramatizing, but it really did take me a few months to wrap my head around how I was gonna, you know, get into the song. Because when you have an incredible song like this, you don’t wanna take away certain parts that are so integral, so important — how do you mess with something that’s already so good?”

And it all worked out. No less than MCR frontman Gerard Way gave Aoki’s efforts his stamp of approval.

“Right away, I really loved his remix,” he told Buzzfeed. “And what I love about it is the sounds are phenomenal, and he’s kept the intensity, and I think in some ways, the purpose of the song.”

If Aoki’s stomping take on the classic track only whet your whistle for new-old My Chemical Romance songs, check out “The Five Of Us Are Dying” an early demo version of the track that was shared back in July.
