The Weeknd Softened Up ‘I Can’t Feel My Face’ And ‘The Hills’ For Radio 1’s ‘Live Lounge’

Contributing Writer

So far in The Weeknd’s career, he’s had two modes: gloomy, drugged-out and haunting or hyper, drugged-out and bombastic. But it turns out Abel can get coffee-shop levels of tender, too. He stripped down his two mega-hits off Beauty Behind The Madness during a stop at BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge.

The Weeknd started with a version of “can’t Feel My Face” that’s far more low-key than the fire-starting original, then went into a sparse version of “The Hills” that’s just him and an acoustic guitar.

All things considered, it’s pretty nice — though it doesn’t stop “The Hills” from being one of the grossest Top 10 hits of all time. Watch “The Hills” up top and listen to the whole performance below.
