Van William Closes Out His Residency At Los Angeles’ Moroccan Lounge Tonight

If you were busy or, you know, don’t live in Los Angeles, you missed a pretty amazing concert last Monday night. Uproxx presented the second night of Van William’s residency at the Moroccan Lounge in Arts District, which featured the excellent LA act Springtime Carnivore, whose Greta Morgan also plays with Van, as well as My Morning Jacket’s Jim James in support. For James’ part, he played a pretty experimental set that featured him playing saxophone, ambient drones, and his own wailing vocals with interpretations of songs Nina Simone recorded, which felt really apropos to the performance being held on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. By the end of the show, all three collaborated on a cover of Neil Young’s “Cinnamon Girl.”

The good news is if you missed it, you still have one more chance to catch Van William perform at the venue. He’ll be closing out his residency tonight with Jonathan Rice and the other special guest is none other than Dawes! Tickets are once again $5 and benefit the LA Food Bank. Last week sold out, so best to buy in advance from Ticketfly.

Get pumped by checking out a few images from last week’s performance below. Van William’s excellent album Countries is out now.
