Washed Out’s ‘Get Lost’ Video Is A House-Indebted Collage Of Los Angeles Life

It’s been four years since we’ve heard anything from Georgia’s Ernest Greene, better known as Washed Out. And his first single since 2013’s Paracosm signals quite the new direction for the one-time chillwaver. Instead of the muted and shimmering sounds that we expect from that micro-genre, “Get Lost” finds Greene is dabbling with shuffling house sounds and sunnier compositions.

That new and bustling sound is perfectly represented in the track’s video, which shows a day in Los Angeles created via collages of old magazine advertisements. Give the Harvey Benschoter-directed clip a watch up top.

The new song was released via the experimental Los Angeles hip-hop/jazz/electronic clearinghouse Stones Throw. And while tracks like “Feel It All Around” might not have fit into that label’s oeuvre, this new direction slots right in to their catalog. While Washed Out have yet to announce an album, expect a proper announcement to be forthcoming. Especially since the producer is hitting the road for a mini-tour in July.
