Watch Paul McCartney Play A Beatles Classic Live For The First Time Ever

Tuesday night, Paul McCartney played The Beatles’ “Another Girl” for the first time live. The song, which can be heard on Help!, was a huge surprise to fans, performed in honor of the fact that this was McCartney’s first return to Japan’s Nippon Budokan since he last played there with the Fab Four in 1966, 49 years ago.

Rolling Stone reports that “Another Girl” was just one of many songs dug out from the vault on McCartney’s most recent Japanese tour. He played “Can’t Buy Me Love” for the first time since 2009 and sang “Got to Get You Into My Life” for the first time since 2011.

McCartney told NME that The Beatles’ 1966 show at the Budokan was the best the band had done in Japan, and that being there again for the first time brought up a lot of memories and emotions.

“It was sensational and quite emotional remembering the first time and then experiencing this fantastic audience tonight. It was thrilling for us and we think it was probably the best show we did in Japan and it was great to be doing the Budokan 49 years later. It was crazy. We loved it.”

McCartney will be touring the United States later this year.
