Will Ferrell And Chad Smith Are Throwing A Quinceanera Because Why Not?

On the list of celebrity doppelgangers, Will Ferrell and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith have to be near the very top of the list. The resemblance they bear to each other had been noticed for some time. At one point, they acknowledged it directly by competing in a drum-off on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Well, now the pair are getting together again. Why? To throw Will Ferrell a quinceanera. You read that correctly. And yes, Will Ferrell is 48 years old.

On April 29, Ferrell and Smith will put on the Red Hot Benefit Comedy Music Show + Quinceanera, which will feature performances from several musicians and comedians. All the proceeds from the event will go to two charitable organizations — Will Ferrell’s Cancer For College, and Chad Smith’s Silverlake Conservatory Of Music.

According to an official statement announcing the event:

“I have only one great regret in life and it’s that I never actually celebrated my quinceanera,” said Ferrell in a press release. “I’d like to think it was just a simple oversight by my mother, but there has been a void inside me for many years. Growing up on the mean streets of Irvine, California, I have vivid memories of all my friends celebrating their quinceanera. Well, on April 29 at the Shrine Auditorium, with Red Hot Chili Peppers and a bunch of other really talented comedians and musicians by my side, we are going to right that wrong, and everyone is invited.”

Presale tickets will be available March 8, while regular tickets will go on sale March 11.
