Wye Oak has gotten into the habit of releasing an album every two years (except for the three-year gap between 2011’s Civilian and 2014’s Shriek), and since their previous album, Tween, came out in 2016, we’re due. Thankfully, the duo is delivering: Wye Oak has just announced that their sixth album, The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs, will be released on April 6th via Merge Records.
They’ve marked the occasion by sharing the electronic crescendo of a title track. Press materials describe the album as “[pursuing] a litany of modern malaises, each of its dozen tracks diligently addressing a new conflict and pinning it against walls of sound, with the song’s subject and shape inextricably and ingeniously linked,” and the band wrote on Twiter, “We think it’s the best thing we’ve done and can’t wait for you to hear it.”
