A black man named Shannon Miles is a suspect in the Friday shooting death of Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Darren Goforth near Houston, Texas, so Fox News is blaming it on Black Lives Matter. And here to ask the tough questions is Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
“Why has the Black Lives Matter movement not been classified yet as a hate group? How much actually has to go in this direction before someone labels it as such?” asks Hasselbeck on her show, Fox & Friends, to Kevin Jackson, who edits a website called Black Sphere, with the tag line, “Ending identity politics.”
Jackson answers that the Left is funding Black Lives Matter, so it’s presumably their influence (specifically that of George Soros and the Black Congressional Caucus) who keep Black Lives Matter from paying the consequences: “The sad part about it is, the impact that it’s gonna have in the black community, and the fact that it takes away so much thought about what really is the problem in the black community, which is a lack of whole black families.”
At the beginning of the segment, Hasselbeck, Jackson and co-host Brian Kilmeade, discussed Black Lives Matter protests and their purported link to Goforth’s killing. Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman also linked Black Lives Matter to the shooting. “We’ve heard Black Lives Matter, All Lives Matter. Well, cops’ lives matter, too,” CBS News quotes Hickman as saying.
CBS News also quotes a response from a Black Lives Matter leader, Deray McKesson: “It is unfortunate that Sheriff Hickman has chosen to politicize this tragedy and to attribute the officer’s death to a movement that seeks to end violence.”
