Alicia Machado Says She Won’t ‘Be Bullied Or Silenced’ By Trump’s Attempts To Smear Her

Alicia Machado has had some pretty harsh insults thrown her way this past week, but she is taking it on the chin. After she was used as an example to highlight Donald Trump’s sexism during the Presidential debates, the Donald doubled-downed on his insults and apparently woke up extra early to vent his lingering frustration. But for all the rage-tweeting that has been going on, she hasn’t let it get her down.

The former Miss Universe has made the media round this week to defend her name and to condemn Trump’s comments about her. Trump has maintained that Machado was the worst Miss Universe winner he has ever had and had made many disparaging remarks about her weight. His latest tweet storm about an alleged sex tape seemed to be a final straw for her. She tweeted that she “will not be bullied or silenced” and is committed to “standing with women and the Latino community everywhere.” Machado also took to her Facebook to decry his latest accusations and point towards a pattern:

“The Republican candidate and his campaign are, once again launching attacks, insults and are attempting to revive slanders and false accusation about my life, in order to humiliate, intimidate and unbalance me. This, of course, is not the first time the candidate insists on discrediting someone or insists on demoralizing women, minorities and people of certain religions through his hateful campaign. The same way this happened to me, it’s clear that throughout the years, he’s continued his actions and behavior with other women.”

Machado’s message is an impassioned plea that Trump may not be all he’s cracked up to be. She is not alone in her quest to call out Trump, as she has major support from Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
