Anthony Weiner Believes Bernie Sanders Made Hillary Clinton ‘A Lot Better’

Former New York Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner — whose wife, Huma Abedin, is a top Hillary Clinton aide — made an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert yesterday to weigh in on the upcoming election and the Democratic National Convention. He explained to Colbert that Bernie Sanders has helped improve Clinton’s policies and has made her a stronger candidate. He illustrated this point by noting that Clinton, like Sanders, believes in raising the minimum wage and fighting for universal health care.

Despite the fact that Trump once donated to Weiner’s campaign, the former congressman, who resigned in 2011 after a sexting scandal, had zero praise for the Republican nominee. “I have nothing nice to say about him,” he said.

Weiner also expressed his belief that Sanders supporters should — and ultimately will — unite and vote for a Clinton presidency, warning that any vote against Hillary Clinton is “effectively a vote for a xenophobic, narcissistic, racist anti-Semite.”

When Colbert asked Weiner if he had any advice for Clinton during the debate, he quipped, “If I were Hillary, I would yield all my time to Donald Trump … I don’t think anyone ever looks at the television set when Donald Trump is talking and thinks, ‘that guy looks like a president.'”
