Even Bernie Sanders Has A Podcast Now, And Bill Nye Was One Of His First Guests

In late February, former Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) had a conversation with popular scientist Bill Nye about how President Donald Trump’s decision to ignore climate change may doom us all. While that and a few other sound bites caught the Internet’s attention for a moment, most glossed over the fact that the Facebook video was from something called The Bernie Sanders Show. Something that also included conversations between Sanders and Rev. William Barber in one episode, and activist filmmaker Josh Fox in another.

However, The Bernie Sanders Show isn’t just a semi-regular component of the senator’s new life on social media. It’s also, as The Verge reported earlier today, a brand new podcast hosted by the stalwart progressive political figure that currently includes the Barber, Nye, and Fox interviews within its first three episodes. In a tweet proclaiming its existence and new listing on iTunes, Sanders declared “the revolution will be podcast”:

According to The Bernie Sanders Show‘s official description on iTunes, the program will feature Sanders “leading activists, journalists, policymakers, artists, visionaries and revolutionaries [as they] talk about the resistance, the political revolution and moving forward on a progressive agenda.” Yet aside from his response to Trump’s joint address of Congress and a late-March interview with New Yorker journalist Jane Mayer, the podcast itself hasn’t been updated in a week and a half.

Hopefully that will change soon. After all, there’s nothing more exciting than a new podcast that could’ve been titled This Goddamn American Life.
