It’s been a busy weekend of Black Lives Matter-led protests, after the fatal police-involved shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. Thursday’s Black Lives Matter march in Dallas ended in tragedy, with a sniper killing five police officers. Other marches have been more triumphant, including Sunday night’s march in Los Angeles, where Black Lives Matter protestors marched in Inglewood, and shut down a highway.

According to CBS Los Angeles, the protestors blocked the 405 Freeway at the Manchester Avenue exit, until California Highway Patrol officers forced them to move. Before that happened, they formed a peace sign in the middle of the intersection.

Here’s a Snapchat that one of the protestors posted on Twitter of his fellow protestors blocking the freeway and chanting:

And here’s a photo of the backed-up traffic because of the protest:

The protestors also marched past iconic Inglewood landmarks, like Randy’s Donuts and City Hall, chanting “no justice, no peace” and “black lives matter.”

One thing’s for sure, if you want to get people’s attention in Los Angeles, definitely cause a traffic jam. Hopefully, this demonstration has helped keep the conversation about Black Lives Matter in the national news beyond last week, and also helps result in justice for Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and others.
