Donald Trump and his cohorts are patting themselves on the back from refraining from mentioning Bill Clinton’s infidelities during the first presidential debate, but one person who isn’t popping champagne is Chelsea Clinton. In a wide-ranging interview with Cosmopolitan, Clinton gave her opinion about the first debate, questions regarding her mother’s “stamina,” and Trump’s constant threat to discuss her father’s past infidelities.

During Monday’s debate, Trump seemed to hold himself back from mentioning Bill Clinton’s infidelities, a veiled threat he has repeatedly said he would make during the entire campaign cycle. Trump and his camp have applauded themselves from holding back, including the Donald’s son Eric who said his dad was courageous for taking the high road:

“I mean, he really took the high ground where he had the opportunity to go very, very low. I mean, I’m really proud of him for doing that. And I think people recognize that…He could’ve just crushed her on that last question. And he would’ve probably hurt a family if he did … I think that took a lot of courage in so many regards.”

Courage doesn’t seem like the most appropriate word to describe refraining from talking trash about someone, but this is the political climate that exists. While the Trump campaign is getting dizzy from its victory lap, Chelsea Clinton said she was a bit unimpressed with these comments. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Clinton said these reactions are just the Trump campaign dragging their feet:

“Well, my reaction to that is just what my reaction has been kind of every time Trump has gone after my mom or my family, which is that it’s a distraction from his inability to talk about what’s actually at stake in this election…And what I find most troubling by far are Trump’s continued, relentless attacks on whole swaths of our country and even our global community: women, Muslims, Americans with disabilities, a Gold Star family. I mean, that, to me, is far more troubling than whatever his most recent screed against my mom or my family.”

Clinton also addressed Trump’s comments about her mother’s stamina and felt she knocked it out of the park by listing her responsibilities as secretary of state. Trump has yet to make any real comments about Clinton’s past infidelities, but his allies are raring for him to go through with it.
