Donald Trump Asks Black Voters To Give Him A Chance: ‘What Do You Have To Lose?’

As always, Friday has been a busy day for Donald Trump. First, his campaign announced the resignation of campaign chairman Paul Manafort. Then the Republican nominee toured flood-damaged areas near Baton Rouge where he slammed President Obama’s golf game and lack of presence — although Governor John Bel Edwards reportedly requested that Obama wait before visiting because presidents can be a real drain on first-responder resources — during the catastrophe.

Then Trump flew to his Dimondale, Mich. rally, and he doubled down on his recent attempt to woo black voters while slamming Hillary Clinton as “against the police” and “pro-criminal.” Here, Trump appealed to black voters by painting them as a community without hope. Then he basically said he’s the only one who can make things better:

“Look at how much African-American communities have suffered underneath Democratic control To those I say — what do you have to lose by trying something new, like Trump? You’re living in poverty. Your schools are no good. You have no jobs. 58 percent of your youth is unemployed. What the hell do you have to lose?”

Although Trump is currently polling at 1 percent among black voters, he also wildly “guaranteed” that he will secure “95 percent of the African-American vote” after four years. Only one day ago, Trump expressed regrets for often saying “the wrong thing.” We may soon see another speech like that one.
