An Explosion At A German Bar Leaves Several Injured And At Least One Dead

An explosion in Germany has left at least ten people injured and one person dead. Fox News reports the event as occurring in Ansbach near an open-air music concert with 2,500 in attendance. Police believe the one person who was killed was carrying an explosive device, which detonated at around 10:00pm local time at a wine bar next to the event’s entrance. The music festival shut down after the incident as a safety precaution while investigators dig into the scene.

RT.com adds word from German media that authorities believe this was a “deliberate” attack caused by a device, rather than a gas explosion.

The story is developing, and we will report further details as they surface.

This makes the third time in less than a week that Germany has seen what appears to be a terror attack. Last Monday, an Afghan migrant attacked train passengers with an ax. ISIS later claimed responsibility for the incident. And on Friday, shootings took place in at least two locations — a shopping mall and a subway station — in Munich, Germany. In that incident, police found that shooter did not have connections to ISIS. Instead, the teenage gunman reportedly drew “obvious” ties to the fifth anniversary of lone wolf Anders Behring Breivik’s massacre in Norway.
