Joe Biden Gave President Obama The Best Present For His Birthday

Barack Hussein Obama II was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, 55 years ago today, on August 4, 1961. And he doesn’t look a day over 65 (being the president ages you terribly). To celebrate his last birthday as the Leader of the Free World, Obama wrote a powerful essay for Glamour about why men should be feminists, too. What a mensch. But today shouldn’t be about what Obama gave to us — it’s about we, or at least his wife and co-workers, gave to him.

Hillary Clinton wants you to sign his digital birthday card (which unfortunately doesn’t read, “You’ve visited the Hill; soon you’ll be over it”), while his wife Michelle tweeted, “55 years young and that smile still gets me every single day. Happy birthday, Barack. I love you.” That’s sweet and all, but it’s nothing compared to Vice President Joe Biden’s present for the president.

The friendship bracelet — the pizza! the flower! the smiley face! — appears to have come from a video Obama made with BuzzFeed. Y’know, the one where he was asked to name deceased Game of Thrones characters, and he somehow forgot Wun Wun. It’s almost as if the president has better things to do. Fortunately, unlike Wun Wun, Biden’s love of Obama is alive and well. The veep’s an inspiration to eight-year-old girls at summer camp everywhere.

Biden’s saving the ice cream cake for later.
