A Fox News Host Pounces On Katrina Pierson’s Spin For Trump Withholding His Tax Returns

Trump spokesperson Katrina Pierson does not rest, as this Fox News video captured by Raw Story will attest. This appearance happened mere hours after Pierson unapologetically used audio interference to explain why she blamed President Obama for the invasion of Afghanistan in 2007. That incident, which was geared towards defending Trump’s “sarcastic” claim that Obama was the “founder of ISIS,” followed about a week after she blamed Obama and Hillary Clinton for Captain Humayun Khan’s 2004 death. This was her way of backing up Trump’s own false claim that he’s always opposed the war in Iraq.

Exhausting, isn’t it? Pierson was a busy lady on Sunday, as the two videos here reveal. In the above clip, Pierson addresses Trump’s continued refusal to release his tax returns. Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine have both released ten years of their own returns in an effort to pressure Trump. Jill Stein dropped her own paperwork last week, and hopeful VP Mike Pence is preparing to do the same. Trump is determined to be the holdout candidate — which leads people to think he’s concealing something — and he continually claims that an audit prevents him from releasing tax returns.

Fox News host Arthel Neville explained that presidential candidates have traditionally (all the way back to the 1970s) released their returns to the voting public. Neville also pointed out how there’s no law to prevent a candidate from doing so during an audit. She asked Pierson, “Can you answer the implications that he’s hiding something?”

Pierson replied that Trump’s lawyers have told him not to release his forms, and she then took a dismissive air: “This really has become much of a novelty in presidential campaigns.” Neville didn’t let this stand: “It’s been going on since the 1970s. It’s a tradition, not a novelty. The voters want to know.” To this, Pierson retorted, “It’s a novelty tradition!” And Neville then responded, “Excuse me. Okay, since the ’70s, it’s now a novelty.”

Also on Sunday afternoon, Pierson popped over to CNN and claimed the media should have known Trump was being sarcastic about Obama founding ISIS. Her explanation doesn’t make much sense, other than Pierson thinking Trump was referring to “filing documentation and paperwork and articles of incorporation” as one big joke. Alrighty.
