In addition to Donald Trump, Megyn Kelly welcomed another high-profile guest to her Fox special on Tuesday night. O.J. Simpson defense lawyer Robert Shapiro — recently in the media again thanks to John Travolta’s amazing performance on FX’s American Crime Story — sat down with Kelly to discuss the trial of the century and following verdict, revealing some never-before-heard details.
For instance, Shapiro told Kelly that he knew that the famous glove would not fit his client after having tried it on himself, which ended up being the crucial piece of evidence in the trial.
“I want you to walk as close to the jury as you can, hold up your hand like you’re carrying the Olympic torch, and pull and tug on that glove,” Shapiro told Simpson. “Because it will not fit.”
Shapiro also revealed what an exuberant Simpson whispered into his ear as the innocent verdict was read.
“You had told me this would be the result from the beginning. You were right,” Shapiro says Simpson told him in 1995 after he was acquitted of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman.
While he wouldn’t comment on whether he truly believes Simpson is innocent or guilty, Shapiro also said why he wouldn’t have represented his client at his 2008 armed-robbery trial had he been approached, telling the Fox News host: “He still owed me money from the first one.”
Welp, can’t blame a man for having convictions.
