Donald Trump’s post-Lewandowski era began with a speech at the Trump SoHo hotel. He’s still sticking with his newfound penchant for scripted speeches, but Trump is as abrasive as ever. The real-estate mogul first beckoned Bernie Sanders supporters to join him, which is something he’s been saying for some time. But this could be seen as a move of desperation after the media pounced upon Trump’s dwindling campaign coffers. Hell, even Sanders has more cash on hand than Trump. And the self-declared billionaire sent out his first fundraising email on Tuesday afternoon, which was a notable moment. He gave his mailing list 48 hours to send huge sums, which he promised to match.
With Bern out of the game, Trump has geared his insults toward a semi-singular focus. The bulk of his SoHo speech featured a lengthy run of slams toward Hillary Clinton:
“She’s a world-class liar. Just look at her pathetic email and server statements, or her phony landing in Bosnia, where she said she was under attack and the attack turned out to be young girls handing her flowers … a total and self-serving lie.”
He then attacked Clinton’s temperament (ironic, isn’t it?) and how she feels “entitled” to be president. Trump doesn’t like the “I’m with her” slogan because he’s with “the American people.” Then he settled in for some foreign-policy points:
“The Hillary Clinton foreign policy has cost America thousands of lives and trillions of dollars — and unleashed ISIS across the world. No secretary of state has been more wrong, more often, and in more places than Hillary Clinton. Her decisions spread death, destruction and terrorism everywhere she touched.”
Trump then told supporters that only he can keep America safe, but since this was a prepared speech, his camp cooked up something to reinforce his liar-liar point. Trump snapped up the LyingCrookedHillary.com domain name as an orchestrated stunt that goes virtually nowhere, yet. His team is so disorganized that they launched a site with no content but a splash page, and they offer exclusive access for those who supply their phone numbers. But the only thing Trump delivers in return is the promise of a special Hillary attack video, which isn’t finished. As Trump would put it … sad!
