It looks like esteemed presidential candidate Donald Trump will have to testify in court during his campaign after all! This is because a judge has ruled that the Trump University lawsuit will indeed go to trial. It has been five years since this lawsuit was first filed, in which former Trump University students say Trump scammed them out of thousands of dollars with the promise of making them real estate moguls like him.

According to Fox News, New York Supreme Court Judge Cynthia Kern made this decision on Tuesday. It’s still unclear whether the case will go to a jury trial, which the Trump camp is hoping for. Perhaps they feel that the mogul has a home field advantage in the state.

Here are some details about the lawsuit:

[New York Attorney General Eric] Schneiderman had sued Trump and the school, which changed its name to the Trump Entrepreneur Initiative before it closed in 2010, for $40 million. The lawsuit seeks restitution and damages for more than 5,000 students nationwide, including 600 New Yorkers, who paid up to $35,000 each.

Trump has tried to hit the plaintiffs back on their claims in early March with a video, which accused disgruntled students of wanting “to get their money back.” Fox News says that he accuses Schneiderman of pursuing the lawsuit to get donations out of his daughter, Ivanka.

Also, the case will begin on the first day of the GOP convention, July 18.
