AJ Styles Explained Why Going To WWE Is The Right Call, And Why He’s Better Now Than When He Was Young

Since news broke that a pack of New Japan Pro Wrestling stars were giving their notice to the company and heading to WWE, the conversation has been, “Where, when, and why?” AJ Styles got superkicked out of the Bullet Club the night after Wrestle Kingdom 10, and it seems like there’s a new unconfirmed confirmed rumor about him every day. Will he show up at the Royal Rumble? The day after the Rumble? WrestleMania? He’s skipping NXT, right?

In an interview with The Tag Rope during a tour of 5 Star Wrestling in the UK (which you can watch above), Styles gave the most diplomatic answer possible about whether or not going to WWE was an aspiration, explained how WCW folding ended up being great for him, and why he feels like he’s a better wrestler now than when he was in his 20s.

“I’m always going to do what’s best for my family. That’s my first priority, my job is to take care of them, any way that I can.”

The wrestling world seems ready for it. WWE and NXT stars have been posting I FOR ONE WELCOME OUR NEW JAPAN OVERLORDS messages since the news broke, and even the Face That Runs The Place joined in on the fun by posting an Instagram image of the Face That’s New To The Place:

Let’s hope the Royal Rumble gives us something to make wide-receiver hands about.
