WWE Unveiled When A Maskless Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas Will Make His NXT Debut

We’ve been anxiously awaiting this one for a while. Back in November, it was announced that the world-traveled luchador known as La Sombra had signed with WWE and would be reporting to NXT. Under the new name Andrade “Cien” Almas, he’s been acclimating himself to the NXT atmosphere at house shows for months.

But as it was revealed on Wednesday night, soon the world at large will get its look at the new side of the Mexican superstar.

As part of the notoriously well-dressed heel stable Los Ingobernables, he was affiliated with people like the current IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Tetsuya Naito. He even won the IWGP Intercontinental Championship from Shinsuke Nakamura in 2013, so hopefully they pick up right where they left off.

As mentioned in the NXT recap, it’s still a bit of a culture shock to see Almas unmasked, especially when the La Sombra gear was some of the coolest in lucha libre. Technically, he’s been without the mask since September, when he lost a máscara contra máscara match to Atlantis, a legend in his own right.

If you’re still worried about how he’ll fare, there’s likely no need to worry. There used to be some salacious rumors that Sami Zayn worked under a mask for years, and he’s doing just fine on the main roster right now. In any event, it’s unclear as of now whether or not Almas will see in-ring action at Takeover, but at least we now have an arrival date for NXT’s most legit luchador.
