Becky Lynch Believes Her Feud With Charlotte Was A ‘Turning Point’ In The Women’s Revolution

If you can remember all the way back to the beginning of what was at the time dubbed the “Divas revolution,” you’ll recall that the call-ups of three of NXT’s “Four Horsewomen” resulted in the WWE women’s division being broken into three teams. One of those teams was the Submission Sorority, which was almost immediately renamed Team PCB, due to reasons. Becky Lynch, Paige, and Charlotte Flair were the best of friends … until life tore them asunder.

Eventually, Charlotte, Becky, and Sasha Banks rang in the rechristened women’s division with the match of the night at WrestleMania 32. Charlotte remained the head honcho over on Raw, while Becky moved to Smackdown and became the inaugural Smackdown Women’s Champion.

Following the Superstar Shake-Up, Becky and Charlotte are both back on the same brand, and Lynch wants to two to pick up right where they left off. In an interview with the Mirror, Becky talked about how she and Charlotte have only scratched the surface of what they can do together.

“I think we only barely scratched the surface. I think one of the turning points in the women’s revolution was actually myself and Charlotte going into our feud. Before then there had been lots of women’s matches, which was great, and we were getting to see the rewards, but there wasn’t really any depth behind it. Then once we started our feud that went into the Royal Rumble last year, I think that was really a turning point because we were able to see a friendship falling apart and that is something people can get into, as opposed to ‘okay, here’s women, there’s a revolution apparently, watch there matches’. This was something that people could relate to because it was one friend being ruthless and doing anything she could to win and screwing her best friend. Then it went off in a different direction but I would like to pick up where we left off.”

With Alexa Bliss gone to Raw, Becky will probably get her chance soon enough. We all know Charlotte is about to become Smackdown Women’s Champion, so she’ll need a fiery babyface or two to step up and challenge her. And who’s more fiery than Alexa? You can’t have steampunk without fire, after all.
