Becky Lynch Discussed Her Onscreen Romance With Seth Rollins And Whether They’ve Influenced Each Other

WWE

Becky Lynch used to be know as one of the WWE Superstars who was more private than most about her personal life, rarely posting online about who she was dating and mostly keeping kayfabe online. Naturally, that changed when she and Seth Rollins went public about their relationship. When the Raw Women’s Champion and the Universal Champion are a couple, WWE just can’t stop themselves from making it a thing on the show. After weeks of little hints on TV, that came to a head at WWE Stomping Grounds, where Becky saved Seth from Special Referee Lacey Evans, which led to a Mixed Tag Match at Extreme Rules being made on Raw.

In an interview with Guide Live, Becky said that making her relationship with Seth was inevitable:

That’s something that came about recently. I think seeing the potential to have two top stars fighting side by side as champions is something that we couldn’t really ignore, so here we are.

On the other hand, when asked if they’re influencing each other’s wrestling styles, or if Becky’s style of using Twitter has rubbed off on Seth, she was pretty emphatic that that’s not the case.

No, to be honest with you, neither. None in either way. I’ve seen what he’s been doing. That’s completely him. He rightfully exposes the fact that we are the premiere wrestling show. We’re constantly putting on matches, five-star matches time after time. I think that he just wants that to be noticed and appreciated. But that’s got absolutely nothing to do with me, I don’t know that I’ve rubbed off on him in that way. And in-ring, no. My style is my style. His style is his style. We’re our own people, and then we can just fight side by side.

I personally don’t see the resemblance between their Twitter accounts, since Becky’s thing on Twitter has never been sticking up for the company the way Seth can’t seem to stop doing, but whatever. I’m glad she quashed that either way.

Becky goes on to name opponents she’d like to face after she’s finally done with Lacey Evans, including Nikki Cross and Beth Phoenix, and then the interviewer asks what her next big goal is now that she’s main evented WrestleMania, and Becky keeps it simple:

WrestleMania, again! Main event WrestleMania, again – in a singles match this time. To me, it’s all about maintaining, and it’s about consistency. It’s about making wrestling the coolest thing on TV, something that the people can’t wait to tune in and find out what’s happening. For me, that’s not a tougher goal, but it’s a lofty goal to really maintain that level of interest all the time. Because it’s one thing to get to the top of the mountain, but it’s a whole other to stay there. That’s the hard part. That’s when the work starts.

I’d say that it’s optimistic of her to think that might happen considering how things have gone since this year’s Mania, but the honest truth is that Becky just keeps surprising us with the things she can accomplish, so who knows?
