Chris Jericho Reveals When His Current WWE Run Will End

Love him or hate him, Chris Jericho has been one of WWE’s key players for the past 17 years. But nothing gold can stay, which is why Jericho must return to his home planet, his people need him. In other words, the surefire future Hall of Famer is already planning the end of his current spectacular in-ring run — and it’s all because of the siren song of rock ’n’ roll.

In a new interview with International Business Times, Jericho confirms that his metal band, Fozzy, had previously agreed to take 2016 off from touring, which allowed him to spend more time within the confines of the squared circle feuding with the likes of AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose. But the other part of that deal was that Fozzy would release a new album early next year, which means wrestling has to once again move to the back burner.

“Fozzy, we made a concerted idea to not do anything in 2016. We’re gonna do a new record, it’ll be released early 2017, then it’s full-time back in Fozzy. Until then, I’m having so much fun in the WWE. I plan to continue for the next who knows how long it is. I’d never say, but suffice it to say it’s going to be for a little while longer for sure.”

This means 2017 will find Chris Jericho sporting a scarf and leather pants onstage in front of a few hundred drunk metalheads at a rib cook-off waiting for, like, Drowning Pool to come on or something, instead of his current situation, which is sporting a scarf and leather pants onstage in front of 15,000 screaming fans every Monday night. Perspective!

Of course, while we want to take him at his word, it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility to expect Chris Jericho as a surprise entrant in the 2017 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal or something — he does love trolling his fans, after all.
