Rey Mysterio Says He’ll Be In The Crowd For CM Punk’s First UFC Fight

Former WWE Champion CM Punk is now a mixed-martial artist and a UFC fighter. The only problem is that he hasn’t actually fought anyone yet, and nobody knows when he will. A shoulder injury during training pushed back his debut, and Dana White is saying Punk will fight “probably before summer.”

We don’t know when it’ll happen, but it will happen, and win or lose, Punk will have some familiar faces on his side. During a recent edition of Wrestle Talk TV, Rey Mysterio — one of Punk’s biggest rivals during his WWE days — says he wants to see the Best in the World “kick some ass in that octagon,” and wants to be there to support him live.

Here’s the clip:

I was hoping Punk would walk out with Serena and Luke Gallows, but how cool would it be if a bunch of Punk’s greatest opponents showed up in the crowd to support him? Mysterio, The Undertaker — hey, he’s been there before — hell, why not Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman? Maybe we can let John Cena watch from home. We don’t want him barging in and winning Punk’s first fight himself.

While we wait to figure out when this might actually happen, check out some old Mysterio vs. Punk clips. They’re almost always great, and that’s still the best GTS of all-time.
