Daniel Bryan Elaborated On The Touching Reason Behind His New Haircut

Back on Sunday, it seemed like the entirety of the wrestling-aware Internet was losing their collective minds over Daniel Bryan cutting his hair and beard. What could this mean? Is he coming back to wrestle? Is he going to join the authority? Did he finally get tired of being mistaken for a member of Fleet Foxes? Sadly none of those things were true, but in true Daniel Bryan fashion, the reason was entirely altruistic.

Daniel Bryan poked fun at his new haircut during his emotional retirement speech on Raw, then revealed the truth about his shorn locks:

“But now, it is time for me to address the giant elephant in the room.

I know, I didn’t want to shave my beard either, but the thing is that I wanted to cut my hair, and once I cut my hair, I looked really silly with this giant beard. And this is just my one cheap plug. It’s that I cut my hair for an organization called “Wigs for Kids”, and one of the nice things about them is that they make wigs for kids who have had cancer and they don’t charge the families at all for that, so if there is anything worthwhile that comes out of what I’m saying tonight, that’s it right there.”

Now Bryan’s posted a behind-the-scenes look at his new ‘do on Instagram:

A little more on Wigs For Kids via their website:

For over 30 years, Wigs for Kids has been providing Hair Replacement Systems and support for children who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy, radiation therapy, Alopecia, Trichotillomania, burns and other medical issues at no cost to children or their families.

“Children shouldn’t have to worry about how they look, especially when they’re in the middle of a health crisis,” says Jeffrey Paul. “We want to give these kids the opportunity to feel good about themselves again.”

Leave it to Daniel Bryan to turn a moment that’s supposed to be about him into a platform to help others.
