I love watching wrestlers exist in character completely out of the context of wrestling. Within the WWE Universe, Dean Ambrose is branded a lunatic. He steals people’s belts, he rides the subway to Coney Island so he can bring back a hot-dog cart and attack you with condiments, he wrestles in jeans. Unlike John Cena, who seems born to the manor when it comes to the sapless banter that makes suburbia rise and shine, Ambrose’s shouty and disheveled demeanor make you wonder why nobody has called security yet.

On Tuesday morning, Ambrose showed up to The Rhode Show, a Providence, Rhode Island, morning show whose tagline is “Having fun, eating well, and living life” — a phrase you don’t immediately associate with a dude who was once defeated on pay-per-view by the confusing power of electricity. Instead of sipping from a coffee mug and chatting about the weather, Ambrose declared Providence a warzone, and challenged his SummerSlam opponents The Wyatt Family to fight in the parking lot of the Dunin Donuts Center at Smackdown that night.

My favourite part of the interview is the visible excitement of the Joey Mercury-looking co-host. Like you can almost see his brain going, “I don’t understand this but he’s a wrestler and he’s shouting ahhhh THIS IS HAPPENING!” I hope this turns into a completely transformative experience for Mr. Rhode Show, and he just gets really into emulating Ambrose: greeting his next guest with a trick mug that shoots green goo everywhere, finishing an interview with a local Girl Scout troop by congratulating them on their cookie sales and then headlock driver-ing their troop leader. Best. Morning show. Ever.
