Did The Rock Really Try To Pull Out A College Teammate’s Tongue During A Locker Room Brawl?

The Rock was just proclaimed the “Sexiest Man Alive” by People Magazine (and your mom, probably). The highest paid actor in the world proudly stated that the People honour is the “pinnacle” of his already staggeringly impressive career. While we won’t argue with what Dwayne Johnson claims to be the gold standard for Hollywood success, another one of his claims is currently being contested.

Besides People, Johnson also graces the cover of Sports Illustrated‘s current issue. During his SI interview he related the story of a memorable locker room dust up that culminated in him trying to physically rip out the tongue of a fellow Miami Hurricanes football player:

Me and Kevin [Patrick] were in a coach’s office, and he was talking sh*t, as always, but this time I just lost it. It was like a movie fight — the desk got turned over, stuff was flying all over the place. We spilled out onto the weight room floor, still going at it. He wouldn’t stop talking, so I decided to pull his tongue out. I stuffed my big ol’ hand into his mouth, and I had a couple of fingers around his tongue, but it was so damn slippery! I was quite serious about pulling it out, but I couldn’t quite get a hold of it. Eventually I gave up, the fight ended, and two minutes later we were hugging each other. It was so dumb.

Pretty wild, huh? Maybe a little too wild. Patrick — owner of the tongue in question — remembers a much different version of the story. As told to the Palm Beach Post:

I don’t give a sh*t what he says. We got in a fight. There’s no doubt. We tore that place apart. But he never stuck his hand in my mouth.

I guess Rocky just got his Disney movies mixed up, and is accidentally promoting Tall Tale 21 years too late.
