The WWE Cruiserweight Classic is just around the corner, and it seems as though more and more participants for the series are being announced every week. During Saturday night’s EVOLVE iPPV, we might just get one more name added to that highly-anticipated event.
By now, everyone knows about the partnership between WWE and their “feeder system” EVOLVE. In his latest newswire update, EVOLVE head booker Gabe Sapolsky explained that Tony Nese will have a golden opportunity to become the latest WWE Cruiserweight Classic participant from the independent promotion during theEVOLVE 63 iPPV show on Saturday night in Orlando:
Tony Nese cut a passionate promo at EVOLVE 62 after his match against Fred Yehi where he demanded a shot at the Cruiserweight Classic, and now he apparently will get his opportunity to qualify. Tony Nese had some emotional words after his match last night that can be seen in the EVOLVE 62 recap video. EVOLVE officials spoke to NXT General Manager William Regal after the event. Nese will now be added to the WWE Cruiserweight Classic Elimination Match. If he wins the match, he will get into the WWE Cruiserweight Classic. The odds are against Nese. Can he turn his career around?
Nese will join a five-way match that is being advertised as a teaser match for the Cruiserweight Classic. Nese will compete in the elimination match against the four other EVOLVE competitors who have already qualified for the Cruiserweight Classic: Johnny Gargano, Drew Gulak, TJP, and Lince Dorado. If Nese wins, he’s in.
The show will also feature a stacked card headlined by Timothy Thatcher defending his EVOLVE title against Tracy Williams of Catch Point. The event begins at 8 p.m. ET and can be ordered at WWNlive.com, on the WWN Roku channel, or on the FITE TV app
