How On Earth Did We Miss Booker T’s ‘G.I. Bro’ Comic Book?

Let’s not beat around the bush: Wrestlers can be giant nerds from time to time. Whether it’s Finn Bálor trying to turn himself into a boss fight from Bloodborne, or Xavier Woods’ new gaming channel on YouTube, we’re pretty far removed from the days when a wrestling locker room was just varsity meatheads. Look at the crossover between wrestlers and comics, if you don’t believe me. At the highest possible echelon, you’ve got CM Punk writing for Marvel. Then, you’ve got guys like Christopher Daniels and Kazarian branching out into indie comics. But here’s one I can’t believe I missed… Booker T, of all people, has a comic book that he’s been promoting. Yes, it’s a G.I. Bro adventure. How did I miss this memo? Luckily, the crew at Title Match Wrestling caught up with Booker at Comicpalooza in Booker’s stomping grounds of Houston to talk about it.

Don’t laugh, Stevie!

The adventures of G.I. Bro appear to be a joint effort between Booker, Last Sentry Comics, and Reality of Wrestling (the independent promotion founded by Booker himself). Again, I have no idea how this slipped through the cracks for me, because he was apparently even shilling it on a few WWE pay-per-view pre-shows.

I don’t know about any comics, but I’m certainly having a hankering for one of those Mountain Dew Kickstarts on your desk. See, advertising works! If the G.I. Bro comic gets even half as wild as the Ultimate Warrior’s title back in the ’90s, we’re in for a ride. Also, for some reason, I want Rob Liefeld to do all the art going forward.
