Eddie Edwards Is Injured And Will Have Surgery This Week

In case you were wondering how things are going over at Impact Wrestling, the answer is: things are going great. They’ve merged with Global Force, they’ve got a new partnership with AAA, and Scott Steiner is back, which is probably the most important part. One thing that ISN’T going so great, however, is that Eddie Edwards is now injured.

The former one-half of the American Wolves and onetime TNA World Heavyweight Champion has reportedly suffered a knee injury and will require surgery. PWInsider.com first reported that Edwards suffered the injury at this past weekend’s tapings, and Wrestling Revolver later confirmed that in a tweet.

So storyline wise, Edwards’ former partner Davey Richards did the injuring. It’s unknown at this time how severe the injury is, or how long Edwards is expected to be out of action, but although the storyline is used to explain it away, this is believed to be a legitimate injury.

Edwards first gained notoriety with a long run in Ring of Honor beginning in 2006. He became the first-ever wrestler to win the ROH triple crown, and although he and Richards had a series of tryouts and dark matches with NXT, they opted instead to sign with Impact in 2014. When Richards suffered an injury in 2016, Edwards embarked on a singles career that culminated in both X Division and world title reigns.
