Vampiro Says A Partnership Between Lucha Underground And Impact Wrestling Is ‘Not Going To Happen’

We’re still a few weeks away from Lucha Underground returning from its tragically lengthy hiatus, although there’s been no shortage of news for the company during that time. One of the tastiest tidbits from the hiatus is the development of an official partnership between AAA and Impact Wrestling. Some key players in the partnership suggested that this could potentially lead to some sort of talent exchange between Impact and Lucha Underground.

Now, before you start daydreaming too hard about a potential Abyss vs. Matanza feud (although that might actually be kind of awesome), let’s all pump the brakes and take this rumor with a grain of salt. According to one of the voices of Lucha Underground. That’s not going to happen for a long time, if ever, bro.

During an interview with Interactive Wrestling Radio, Vampiro dumped some water on the Impact-Lucha Underground talent exchange. This will probably be a bummer to some people, and a massive relief to others.

“No, that is not going to happen. That is a deal between AAA and Impact. Impact will have matches on AAA shows, for example. We will integrate some of our talent into TNA. Hopefully, eventually, way down the line, maybe do some inter-company angles. Baby steps. We want to do it right.”

“Integrate some of our talent into TNA” is probably a way to say that Lucha Underground talent might pop up on Impact, but not as their Lucha Underground characters. Because really, very few of those characters should ever exist outside the very specific world of Lucha Underground. Also, apparently Vampiro hasn’t gotten the memo that the initials “TNA” are verboten now.
