Rey Mysterio seems to be enjoying himself on Lucha Underground and the independent scene. Being away from WWE has given him an opportunity to work with some new talent and fully embrace the lucha libre style that he helped make famous in the United States.

The latest adventure for the master of the 619 is getting a rare opportunity to go back to the place where it all began. On August 13, Mysterio will perform at Montgomery High School in San Diego, the same place where he onceĀ roamed the halls as a student in the early ’90s. PWInsider reports that Mysterio will be involved in the Viva La Lucha show: “Viva La Lucha: Back in the 619,” which will also feature the likes of fellow Lucha legend Psicosis, one of Mysterio’s Lucha Underground rivals Johnny Mundo, Teddy Hart, TJ Perkins, and Famous B. The event will also be hosted by San Diego resident Konnan.

To make the show even better, the event is also going to help raise money for the school itself, and it will be promoted by the likes of Masked Republic and Oddity Studio. Unsurprisingly, the former WWE Champion will be in the main event, although his opponent has yet to be announced.
