Ric Flair Acted Like Himself At An Airport And Everyone Thought He Was Drunk

Wednesday morning, tweets starting making the rounds that Flair was at Boston’s Logan Airport, detained for being drunk and disorderly, prompting wrestling fans everywhere to shrug and go “yeah, that seems about right.”

TMZ Sports picked up the story, where witnesses proceeded to describe pretty much any instance of Flair in the wild:

Here’s what we know … Flair hit up Lucky’s Lounge in the airport before his flight — and multiple witnesses say Flair was acting like a drunk person.

One witness says Flair was loud and obnoxious. Another witness says he was “having a tough time” and “shambling about.”

Determining whether or not a person who has wrestled for decades is drunk or not by the way they walk is probably not the best method. “Shambling” is downright complimentary. The article also contains photos of Flair asleep at his gate. If he’s not drunk, then kudos to him for being able to fall asleep at a busy airport, and whatever reverse-kudos are to the person who took a picture of a sleeping old man at a busy airport.

A few of the tweets saying that Flair was held back from his flight have been deleted now that he made it onto the flight safe and sound. Airport officials told TMZ that he was treated by their medical personnel for a cut on his hand, but was not intoxicated.

The usual concern for Ric Flair’s sobriety was, of course, exacerbated by an in-ring segment taped for SmackDown on Tuesday night wherein he told female wrestler Natalya to kill herself. Flair is set to be ringside as his daughter Charlotte defends the WWE Women’s Championship this Sunday against Natalya at WWE Payback.
