A few months back, we reported that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was working on an HBO documentary entitled Rock & A Hard Place about a Florida boot camp for young offenders. Basically, the project sounded like Beyond Scared Straight, except more highbrow because it’s on HBO and features the people’s eyebrow.

We haven’t heard about Rock & A Hard Place for a while, but The Rock isn’t about to let the dozen other projects on his plate keep him from inspiring troubled youths, dammit. A local Miami/Fort Lauderdale TV station provided a bit of a preview for The Rock’s doc, via video of him giving a speech to recent boot-camp graduates. Rock didn’t bring his guitar or work in many catchphrases, but I’m sure the graduates were still electrified by his presence. You can check out the clip above.

Rock has also posted a few Instagram pics captured while filming Rock & A Hard Place

Honestly, sometimes The Rock’s public persona can start to feel just a bit calculated, but this seems like a pretty sincere passion project. I’ll definitely be interested in tuning in to perhaps see a slightly different side of Dwayne Johnson. Rock & A Hard Place will air on HBO later this year.
