Today’s least-thought-out comments come from former UFC heavyweight and WCW pro wrestling star Tank Abbott, who says he could beat up “any woman on this Earth” — including undefeated UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey — and that he’d do it for free.
On his podcast, The Proving Ground, Abbott said he could defeat Rousey in a fight “because she’s a girl,” said she would lose a fight with boxer Floyd Mayweather because she’s got “all this emotional stuff,” and offered 100 grand to any woman who could beat him. If they don’t, they’ll have to “make [him] a sandwich.” Don’t worry, he made sure to be as transphobic as possible, too:
“I will fight any woman on this Earth for free. If I win, which is going to happen — and you’re going to get bashed up good — you have to make me a sandwich. If you win, I’ll give you $100,000. You can’t be a tranny … you gotta be a female. Born a female.”
If you aren’t familiar with Abbott’s work, he’s a sad backyard fighter and autobiographical genius with a 10-15 record. In pro wrestling, Tank is known for being the biggest fan of a wrestling boy band and threatening to kill a man with a knife on a live pay-per-view. He is also named after a character from a Clint Eastwood orangutan movie.
