WWE Announced The First Women’s Match In Saudi Arabia For Crown Jewel

Earlier this year, two female WWE Superstars traveled to Saudi Arabia in an effort to compete in the country’s first-ever women’s match only for Saudi officials to refuse to approve it. Per an announcement from WWE’s public relations team, it looks like the first-ever women’s match in the region will finally take place at Thursday’s Crown Jewel.

Alexa Bliss is nowhere to be found this time around, but Natalya will face Lacey Evans on the card. Here’s the announcement from WWE PR’s Twitter, which doesn’t provide any additional information. I guess there isn’t any? It’s Lacey Evans vs. Natalya. Anyway:

In tweets of their own, Natalya noted that she’s, “so incredibly proud to represent our women’s division tomorrow night,” and Evans said she’ll be proud to show her daughter, “that hard work can bring you to history-making heights.”

Evans vs. Natalya joins a card that includes boxer Tyson Fury fighting Braun Strowman, MMA rivals Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez having a wrestling match nine years after their UFC fight, and Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan captaining teams for a ten-man tag team match.

Last year the company ran the first-ever women’s match in Abu Dhabi between Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks.
