Back in May, WWE announced their cards for their tour of Japan, and both nights were absolutely loaded. In the month since, a lot had changed, and now the card looks significantly different. Thankfully for Japanese wrestling fans, it’s still looking like it’s going to be an incredible two-show run.
The original main event for the July 1 show was announced as AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns, but that has since been changed to Seth Rollins vs. Owens vs. WWE Champion Dean Ambrose. Styles will now face John Cena, who was originally scheduled to face Chris Jericho at the event.
As for Y2J, he will now be facing none other than The King of Strong Style himself, Shinsuke Nakamura. Nakamura was initially supposed to take on Bray Wyatt, but Wyatt has now been pulled from the tour, which sets up the dream match.
On the July 2 show, Nakamura was also scheduled to face Wyatt, but instead, he will now take on former Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens. The two have faced off against one another in ROH before, but this will be the first time the two will meet in a WWE setting, and it promises to be an incredible match.
Along with Nakamura, WWE’s other Japanese star on NXT right now, Asuka, will be facing off against Becky Lynch and Natalya in her two matches on the tour.
Unfortunately for all of us not in Japan, it doesn’t appear as though WWE plans on putting either of these shows up on the Network like they did last year for “Beast in the East,” so we will have to wait a bit longer on stateside to see Nakamura and Asuka take on stars from the WWE main roster.
