WWE Nixed Plans To Have The Muppets Appear At SummerSlam, Because We Can’t Have Nice Things

Look, I’m not going to mince words here: I f*cking love the Muppets. I support any and all Muppets-related content or merchandise that anyone wants to produce. I loved the new Muppets ABC series, despite what critics said, because I appreciate the Muppets on a much deeper level than you. I love whenever the Muppets have popped up on WWE programming and I love dumb stuff like the Electric Mayhem actually playing real concerts.

So it is with a heavy heart that I must relay to you the disappointing news that WWE had tentative plans for a Muppets appearance at Sunday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view, but alas, that is now not to be. There was hope the Muppets would have a guest spot (although it’s not clear in what capacity — maybe they would “run” in to hit John Cena with a chair, or maybe Fozzie would accidentally join the Bálor Club or something), but a scheduling conflict has torpedoed those plans.

So now let’s all lament the loss of what was sure to be an amazing bit of crossover synergy. If you doubt that this would have been completely awesome, let me just present you with a hypothetical: Enzo Amore getting fired out of Gonzo’s cannon. Actually, any interaction between Enzo and a Muppet, because Enzo was definitely cobbled together by the Jim Henson Creature Shop.

Well, I guess we’ll just have to make do with special guest Jon Stewart.

For now, let’s leave the Muppet/WWE memories alone:
