Johnny Gargano Revealed Who He’d Love To See NXT Sign Next

Johnny Gargano is fresh off the match of his career against Andrade “Cien” Almas at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia. Even though he may not have thought a whole lot of that match, it was met with universal acclaim, and Johnny Wrestling is currently riding the biggest wave of momentum he’s ever had. Everybody loves Johnny!

If you didn’t happen to follow Gargano’s pre-NXT career, he was one of the most in-demand and decorated indie wrestlers on the scene before he signed with WWE full-time. As such, he’s worked all over the world, and with pretty much anyone you can think of. And he’s not that far removed from today’s current indie scene, so you’d better believe he’s keeping tabs on the talent that’s out there.

So Gargano might know better than just about anyone else who should be on the radar of the talent scouts at NXT.

In the wake of NXT making some high-profile, big-name indie signings, like War Machine, Ricochet, and Gargano’s own wife Candice LeRae, he was asked on the X-Pac 12360 podcast who he’d like to see NXT sign next.

“There’s tons of great guys, and I think there’s tons of stories to be told with those guys. I’m not gonna [say] any New Japan talent, obviously. Those are the obvious ones; the Kenny Omegas and the Young Bucks and guys like that. Those are the very obvious wish list of guys, so I’ll go kind of underground more …

“I’m completely biased, because he was the best man at my wedding, but I’d say Gregory Iron, because I feel like there is a story to be told there with him. I don’t know what the story is, but I feel that he is the ultimate underdog. I’ll go M-Dogg 20, Matt Cross because I think he’s absolutely phenomenal … he’s one of the best in the world for a long time. I’ll go Chuck Taylor, he has something special about him, he has that ‘IT’ factor that you can’t teach. ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page as well; he’s a guy that if he had the opportunity, he can go all the way. “

Gargano very clearly wants to get a chance to mix it up with the Elite again, but shout-outs to EVOLVE and PWG cohorts Ethan Page and Chuck Taylor are always welcome. We’ll see if the talent assessors in WWE agree with Johnny Wrestling one day.
